I just bought a new 46 gallon tank and want to set up a saltwater aquarium, but I'm not sure which filters/powerheads I will need. I want to do a reef tank and will have live rock and substrate, which filters/powerheads/anything else for the water will I need?
Thank you for your help!

first off what do u plan on keeping? softies, sps, lps, shrooms, zo's, etc...? that will tell you what type of lighting you must have to have the corals thrive.

The biggest sump you can fit unter a normal 46 gallon stand is 5.5 gallons, and you have to take the door off to fit it in. Do you have somewhere to put a decent sized sump, and maybe a fuge?

My tank is actually going on my dresser for now... I have no room to put a stand anywhere but I have a space 1.5 feet wide, 4 feet long, and 5 feet tall to put things in right next to my dresser

A hang on the back Aquafuge is always an option! If you get the Aquafuge PS, it has a protein skimmer built in already. Then good lighting, if you really want to get into different kinds of corals, best to get Metal Halides. Then rocks, sand etc. I think 3-maxijet 900's would work fine for a 46. :happyfish
