I just moved my tank and ...

I just moved out of an apartment and into a house. During the move I kept all the biomedia and crushed coral and sand wet as not to kill off the good bacteria. I had a temp tank set up for a few days with the fish in it including my 2 star fish and hermit crab. The biomedia remained on its own with an airator going for circulation. During that time everything looked fine except both starfish puffed up. I now have the tank set up and put everything in there and the starfish are inactive and still puffed up. My amonias are a little high and my ph is a little off. If the tank cycles it should be rather quick and i am adding buffer to get the ph back to normal. Are the starfish doomed? everthing else in the tank looks good but them.

If the starfish were removed from the water at all, that could cause some major issues.
I hate to tell you this, but it sounds to me like the stars may have already passed. I'm sorry, and I do hope that I'm wrong.

He wasnt removed from salt water at all, he was transfered to a temporary tank (salt) and is now in the main tank. He is not dead, pretty easy to figure out since he is still moving....he is pufffed up and not sure why anyone, anyone at all have any idea on this????

imo its a bad idea to remove sand and cc especially cc and reuse it without washing it first.stirring it up can cause the bacteria to die off fast and cause alot of water quality problems.when i move tanks i alway buy new sand.
inverts are especially affected by a fast water quality change.
