I LOATHE Verizon "Authorized Retailers"

They suck. I just decided to stop in one since I was already in the mall doing some shopping. Big mistake. The lady tells me iPhones are on nationwide backorder (not exactly true). I wanted to use a discount that I am eligible for with Verizon and she tells me I can use it on any other phone except iPhone. This also is not true. Then, she tries to pressure me into a different phone that was triple than what I wanted to spend. I only wanted to spend 50. I know they work on commission, and she was trying to push me into a more expensive phone so she could earn more. She proceeded to tell me I was crazy if I thought I could get a brand new phone for 50. She also said that the iPhone 4 is no longer available for sale.

This is why I will ONLY go to Best Buy to deal with my phone upgrades. I won't even go to the Verizon Store in my area anymore. FYI, I just bought an iPhone 4 at Best Buy tonight and they had PLENTY in stock.

I called Verizon and ordered it over the phone. I just wanted the plain, old 4 (not S with siri) and I only paid 50 bucks. I got the 8gb one. Oh, and I just saw the phone she was trying to sell me is $100 cheaper online than in store. I have learned to check the online pricing before going to the store to get one. You can save a ton of money ordering online.

Authorized my arsssss, more like authorized thieves!! Lol. I too go through the online store, or even ebay.

I manage my company Verizon account online only but for my own account we will only use an actual Verizon store. Never use the authorized retailer stores. Everyone I've ever been in has been completely clueless

lol. well, that is your fault those mall stores are pretty rough. That being said, best buy is an "authorized retailer." Actually sometimes they'll throw in additional savings that make them cheaper than an actual company store. Especially if you check the larger stores, like wallyworld, Radioshack or best buy. USUALLY they are for new activations, not upgrades.
Typically, the authorized retailers cannot do much with a corporate account. I know with AT&T they wouldn't touch em. And verizon was hell trying to get them to work, they (verizon customer service) would play around with you, then reach a "problem" and say oops, we can't proceed the customer needs to come directly to us (BS imo)
That being said, they might have been on backorder through their distributer, as they typically buy from a middleman. And particularly mall stores, may not be giving you all the kick backs that verizon offers. Also keep in mind that authorized retailers don't have the same access to Verizon's system as actual Verizon employees....

I like Best Buy's customer service so much more. I almost always get the phone for cheaper there, plus their insurance is better and the new Buy Back program is awesome.

I despise my Best Buy with a passion. The customer service is terrible. The Verizon store in my local mall (not the mall I was at on Saturday) is corporate and has pretty good customer service. I have found that I have found the best deals online or over the phone. I'm pretty psyched that I was able to get an iPhone for my mom for 50 bucks.
