i lost my first fish this morning

yesterday i was lookin at my reef tank with my gf, and when i looked at the temp gauge it read 72 and normall it is at a steady 80, then i noticed the heater was out of the water, so if the water level was that low the salinty had to be through the roof,,, so i checked it.. 1.030 i added 3 gallons of water and it went to 1.024 , i saw that my convict tang wasnt doing well so i put him in my 30l that is soon to be a reef, and this morning he died, and i dont know why, this morning when i goto work iam gonna pick up a yellow coris wrasse, and see how he does.

He most likely died from the stress of lowering your salinity so fast then moving him to another tank. You probably should have lowered the salinity over the course of a full day or two and not moved him at all.

Sorry for your loss.
The drop in water level had to occur over time, so next time remember to add it back over time.
Also you may want to take a good look at that heater, a heater that runs out of water is probably cooked.

actually the salt when high... i didnt drop .. it went from 1.023 to 1.030 and the temp went down to 72, my wrasse is fine but my neon dottyback died when i got back from workin at the lfs today. i hope my brain, polypds and clam are fine, tomorrow the mh is arriving so it should help out
