I posted a question (i think, it might just be one of those days) about RO/DI water and I can't find the post?
I would like to know what RO/DI stands for so i know what to look for in the store.
What is the difference between RO/DI water and just using tap water and treating for chlorine.
Do you still have to treat RO/DI water for chlorine?
I am clueless about this subject.

RO is reverse osmosis, that is water that is filtered using the reverse osmosis system.DI is distilled>The RO is better than Distilled if you can find it. Distilled water will still contain heavy metals, and minerals that could cause problems in your tank. There should be no pretreating needed with the RO.

Slight correction to above.
DI is Deionized.
There have been a lot of post on this subject, and I'm sure if you do a search you'll find a lot of good info.

where I buy my water its both ro/di.....from what I understand its the way to go.......most every wal-mart(man I hate that place).......sells it in the front of the store....personally I get mine for 35 cents a gal at a specilaty(sic) shop not far from the house....shop around I'm sure you can find ro/di near you

Yes, but isn't distilled better than either RO or DI? Because distilled water is evaporated water--thus, no impurities?
That's what I use, anyway.

beth i have the perfect way to answer that, take a pot and fill with salt water, place a bag over it with a rubberband holding the clear bag to the pot, leave out in the sun there should be prectipation on the bag, do a taste test on the water spots on the bag and youll notice its still salty, just from personal experiance i was useing bottled disstiled water and i actually bought an 4 stage or/di unit and not only am i saveing alot more , i dont have to go out to get the water, and my problems i had on my tank with algae and tank water quality has reduced
