I just looked at the thread you linked....I'm not saying it's not possible to do, but I wouldn't skimp on DIY bulkhead....JMHO.....The problem is bulkheads aren't really designed to be used on rounded surfaces.....A uni seal would be a better option IMHO......

If your doing it in the bottom of the container, then yes a bulkhead would work, but I wouldn't skimp and DIY bulkhead....Bulkheads are relatively cheap and not worth the chance.

yah, I know your right, but lfs closed tomorrow. I guess I will wait until tues to buy bulk head. I can get everything else ready tomorrow. What size hole for a one inch bulk head????
Here are a couple of pics I borrowed, lol
This is what I am wanting, just not a 90- gal tank. This is a design from another site - I just borrowed the pic. (Thanks Dan)

The one inch pipe will have a sleeve over it with notches cut out and mess attached. the water will flow thru the mesh and up to the one inch pipe and down to the sump.

Definitely use a bulkhead for this use. Sched. 40 bulkhead requires a 1 3/4" hole, or if your using Sched 80 bulkhead it would require 1 7/8 hole.....
