I need advice

OK, so the hubby and I receive a 150gal with stand and canopy free. Yes that's right free! It was in great condition. Due my back, I was unable to help unload tank. We left it in the back of my husbands truck until my son could come overlater in the evening. 100 degrees and 6 hours later we find the glass in bottom has stress breaks
Anyone have ideas? Would having another piece of glass cut for bottom and place on top of present bottom then seal be an option? Any advice? Thanks.

You can use it for a reptile cage. A piece of glass that big is going to be expensive. Then you have the problem of sealing it to four other pieces of glass. It would be more trouble then it worth.

No reason the heat should've caused those cracks.
You could try having a piece of glass cut, just slightly smaller than the original pane. Then, place the new piece of glass into the bottom of the tank, making sure to spread a layer of silicone, to bond the two.

You don't think expansion from the heat would cause this? Your suggestion was what I was thinking of trying. Lots and lots of silicone

If your going to put live rock, sand and 150 gallons of water in a tank that has a cracked bottom get ready to make an insurance claim. You need to remove the old panel and replace it. If you don't your putting a new piece on top of a weak piece, when the weak piece gives out so goes your new piece.

Located company that cuts glass to specified diminsions 3/8 plate glass cost me 72.00$
Hubby and I are going to take a deep breath, cross our fingers etc.and give it a shot.

Good luck with that NaCl. 150 gallons is a LOT of water on the floor, not to mention contents. I've got fingers and toes crossed for you!

just take the bottom panel off, scrape off all the silicone on all the aquarium edges and replace the bottom with a new pane of glass. It's a lot more simple then you may think. PLEASE do it. You're going to regret this.
Oh, and by the way, I have done what you are trying to do and trust me, it doesn't work.

Be sure to use "Temper Glass" if you make this attempt. I believe all good tanks have them. Other than the "Good old days" when they where slate..........
I am almost positive that regular glass will never work on a tank bottom. Tempered is much harder to work with and be sure the glass shop is a good one if you make this attempt.......
My thoughts personally would be replace the tank. May be a lot cheaper in the long run.

I would have nightmares about my wife killing me when she to woke up in the morning to a 150 gallon flood.

Found a silicone remover at walmart. Easy ,easy. Removed bottom frame and broken glass in aroung one hour. Clean up a breeze. Preped glass. Bottom piece was 1/2 not 3/8's. The sides are 3/8. Waiting for glass to be cut.
