im gonna get 4 55w pc lights for my 55 long. i plan on having the back of the canopy pretty much open or ill have some inch or half inch slots along the back and one or two fans on the sides. should this be enough to keep the heat down from the pc lights and enough air movement .also how high should pc lights be off the surface of the water to keep heat out the aquarium. and i think ill have the entire top be able to hinge up so i can get into the tank if needed easily and maybe have the front couple inches on another hinge for feeding. any input or ideas would be helpful thanks

I have a 125g with a custom hood. I have all VHO approx. 5" above the water and haven't had any problems. Also, I have one 3" fan that is more than enough to keep the heat down. You can hinge the top or, what I did, was make a wire harness and I just "un-clip" the harness and remove the whole top when cleaning. Be creative and do as much research as you can. Most of all... Have fun!!!

what you used for a harness just found one rated at the right power and used that or you made your own from something else, that seems like a pretty good idea even if i hinge the thing just in case i ever have to take the canopy off since ill be mounting my ballast in my stand
