I Need an Assassin

I have 3 saron shrimp I need to get rid of. I managed to chase one into an anemones, which ate it, but the other 3 seem to have learned from the experience. I can't catch them no matter what I do, they are so paranoid now.
My question is: If I buy a large coral banded shrimp, do you think he will hunt them down and kill them (I want this to happen)? Also, are coral banded shrimp completely safe with all types of corals. My tank is very heavily stocked with all types of corals.

I tried the inverted plastic pop bottle trap when I thought I had a mantis shrimp. When I checked in the morning after leaving the trap in the tank for the first night, every peppermint shrimp I had was in there......but no mantis shrimp. I don't think I ever had one though.
Might want to try one of those traps.

any kind of trap should work, just put something meaty in there, shrimp, krill, etc, and you should be able to catch the buggers :joy: good luck :D

ARG! I had the trap in ALL night and it didn't catch ONE of the saron shrimp. I swear, they saw me feed one of their buddies to an anemone and now they know I am looking for them. I know this sounds silly, but it is true!
I can't catch these damn things. They don't even come out anymore. They aren't dead, because I've seen them dart away as soon as I come near.
Does anyone think that a Coral Banded Shrimp would hunt these down?

I have a coral banded that is very agressive. I see it kill large hermits in my tank . I see it go after my yellow tang which is the king of the tank. If I can catch him. I think he would surley kill every shrimp in your tank. He cut the head off my cleaner shrimp also. I live in Cincy ohio What is this hit shrimp worth to you. Good luck Lawrence

Sweet, thanks for the feedback. I am definately buying one tomorrow. With the combination of 8 zillion amphipods and those saron shrimp, my yellow polyps are dissapearing more every night.

Use the bottle trick again, soak the bait in Garlic extract and you'll have everything in the trap.....lol

Hmmmm, maybe rat poison would do the trick
haha, just kidding - good luck though. Let us know what works.

You better get your peppermints out. A CB will hunt down every shrimp you have when its molting and kill it. It wont stop at just saron.

If you have peppermint shrimp..with yellow polyps..that's probably what is happening to your yellow polyps...Mine ate a huge colony in 2 nights...and the coral banded will kill anything it can catch ..IMO..., and if your luck is like mine , it will probably kill everything ..except the shrimp you want him to eat!!Good Luck

umm are cB shrimp that mean and nasty? i had one, cause when i bought a mated pair the mate died in transit. he seemed ok for a week or two before i traded him in for credit. the LFS will let me know when they get a new mated pair that i can come back and have. at that point, i had an arrow crab and some hermits and a cleaning chrimp. i never saw any fights. I thought CB shrimp are reef safe and safe for your other inverts? is that not true?
also i recently purchased a so-called peppermint shrimp, but i have since identified him as a camelback shrimp, which is commonly mistaken for peps. the info i was able to find on him was that they are not 100% reef safe. do you guys have any experience with them? i currently only have SWFLR but plan on upgrading at some point so im trying to only maintain reef safe bio. so far the camelback is harmless and a scaredy cat that chills in his lil cove all day. do i need to return this guy when i upgrade to reef?
and also, if have an emerald, a porcelain crab, an arrow, some large hermits, and smaller hermits, a horseshoe crab, a cleaner shrimp and that camelback will the CB shrimps have problems in my 75g? is that overkill on inverts?
sorry to be a lil off topic
