I know it's been discussed, but i would like a little help.
I have a 46 bowfront w/ 45lbs LR and it's a FOWLR. My light fixture hold 1 tube and is 36" long. It has the little mirror reflector thing also. I'm not going to get any coral or anything.
I currently have a daylight bulb but would like to get a bulb that would enhance the color of my fish. Would the 50/50 w/ the bluish tint do that??
any suggestions to what bulb would be best to make my fish look the nicest w/o spending too much??

You should look for a new light... that is the only way you are going to get the color that you are looking for is to upgrade to T-5's or Pc's...
hope that helps...

i would get the 50/50 bulb if you don't feel like upgrading for now that way you have best of both worlds
i just ordered one yesterday at my LFS and said for a single lighting fixture like yours or mine its one of the best ways to go with bulbs hope that helps

This is probably gonna sound dumb, but what's PC and t-5's and stuff?
50/50 is just a type of bulb right??
and are PC and t-5's types of fixtures?? and then you have to buy bulbs for the fixtures?? or are they also bulbs themselves?? i tried doing a little research, but it's kinda confusing.
i'm not going to invest in any fixtures for my FOWLR, not worth it at this time.

Yes 50/50 is a type of bulb. There are PC fixtures and T-5 fixtures. There are also PC and T-5 bulbs. These are what goes inside the PC/T-5 fixtures. If you get a PC or T-5 fixture then you will have to buy bulbs for it unless it says that it comes with bulbs.

Actinic bulbs are bulbs that are a blueish color. They are usually used for transitionally from day to night and night to day. 50/50 are bulbs that are a whiteish color.
