My sister's saltwater tank is at her boyfriends moms house and she is trying to keep it going until July when my sister gets out of jail. There is something in the tank that is killing off the fish and will continue on to the corals unless someone can help. I was told that it could be something called cyano. But I don't have the first clue about these tanks or any other for that matter. I would like to leave my sister's mother in laws number so someone can help her with this. Her name is Harriett Clark and the number is 474-6664. My sister would be much appreciated for any help. She has about $1,000 in this tank. Thank you for any help recieved.

Well.. I'm not callin.. but hopefully you come back here and see this.
Usually I'd recommend doing things the right way when dealing with cyanobacteria, but since it sounds like none of you have any experience with saltwater fish tanks... maybe the best thing would be to go to the fish store and order some of the "red slime remover" products.

Thank you very much for the response. I'm doing this as a favor to my sister but unfortunately I don't have any experience. But I will let her know what you suggested and am sure she will be much appreciated. Thank you again.

before you start dumping chemicals into the tank...has anyone been doing routine water changes on the tank? cyano is a symptom of unstable/poor water quality (typically hi nitrates/phosphates). the cause of the cyano must be addressed or it will simply return.
have your LFS test the water (they'll do it for free) and see what you're dealing with before adding something that can potentially kill the biofiltration of the system.
