Not sure what a Sea Squirt is either. Anenomies are not for beginners and they need special lighting like MH and I believe the tank needs to be 6 months to a year old........

Sea squirts are alright they are filter feeders they look like bird beaks they have two holes one were food goes in and one were waste comes out. They are very simple little animals. I think they need an established tank though. As for the cleaning of the sand bed get sanding sifting animals and snails. On the anemone 6 months is the min to get one and you can "and ppl have" kept them under HO, VHO and PC lights "VHO and PC IMO would be the min I would go". Hope this helps.

After your tank is done cycling, definetly get a cleaner crew. For example for a 55 gallon: Scarlet Hermit crabs 50, Turbo Astrea snails 50, Cerith snails 25-50, Nassarius snails 10, Fighting Conch 2-3, Cleaner shrimp 3-4, Peppermint shrimp 2-3, Emerald Crabs 5

I dont like that for a 55 at all.
Hermits 50 would be max
on the snails that is "WAY" to many snails
Fighting conch "Even on this site sais not for a aquarium 100+ gallons!"
the total shrimp that may be the max or even alittle over.
Emerald crabs 5 would be alot they get to around 3 inches I would go with 2 or 3.
And that is for a 55 gallon
For a 24 nano you would want even less!

Mine has been alive 1.5 years through two tanks, a 44 and my new 58. I would disagree with that statement. He is doing extremely well IMO.
Cheers!

That Ceaner Crew Example was given to me by another person on this Forum or the Reef Forum. I just did a cut and paste from the thread that I saved.
The cleaner crew list that I been working on for my 55 gallon contains 10 Scarlet Hermit Crabs, 20 Astrea Snails, 1 Albalon Cucumber, 2 Emerald Mythrax crab, 2 Sand Sifting Cucumbers, 1 Brittle Star, 2 Serpent Star and 10 Nassarius snails.
Do you think this crew would do OK in a 55 gallon reef?

For the cucumbers that I dont know I do know most cucumbers release toxins when scared or die. On the crabs and snails I say yes. For the stars they would work but they will get big.
