I need skimmer help-quick

My skimmer is producing bubbles fine however the volume of water in the skimmer is rising and sometimes overflowing I need to add more water to my tank but I can't because the skimmer will overflow. What am I doing wrong.

It's seem like your skimmer did not work properly
when it work it only should fill your collection cup with bubbles or thick brown liquid. It should not easy to over flow with in few days
You may have too much bubbles(air) in the skimmer try to reduce it.
what kind of skimmer is it?

First thing I would so is remove the skimmer and completely clean it. Check your return tube to make sure it's not clogged.
