I need some canopy help

Hi,
I have a black pine wood stand on my 56g TALL fish tank. 30 X 17. I want to get a canopy for the tank and so far I can find any.
I just want a cheapo canopy, like what I have on the 90g in black instead of brown. I should have thought of it before I purchased a weird size tank...any help would be so very appreciated.
I would give my eye teeth to be able to build stuff like the talented fellows on this site...but please don't suggest that because I do good to hang a picture straight.

Deb, please don't give your eye teeth away.

I know you're not very local to any fish stores in the area but you could try calling some of your closest ones and ask them if they'd be willing to make you a canopy. Some of them do. Maybe post an add on C.list and see if any local handymen would be willing to take it on. You could always call up some of the custom tank makers, most of them would do it but might charge an arm and a leg for it or even an eye tooth lol. But couldn't hurt to check.
If I wasn't so crazy, busy right now I could throw something simple together, draw up a little diagram and ship it in pieces so that all you'd have to do is screw the pieces together. If you're not in a rush I might could do something like that.
I gotta imagine though that someone there local to you would be willing to do it. Heck, even a local cabinet maker might do it if you took them the dimensions and a picture of your 90g canopy.

That is a weird saying, right there with giving an arm and leg, I wonder where it originated...LOL
I did call locally, they don't have any and won't build. I did find an outfit online that would custom build one but you are not kidding about what they want..Over $400.00 for just a cheap pine canopy painted black.
I know they make a canopy for this tank...I have seen them, but for the life of me I can't find it now. I had hoped someone on the site would know where to look, so I posted a request for help.
LOL...Such a sweetheart to even offer, but no I wouldn't ask you to make me one.
The idea of having a local handyman copy my 90g canopy design is a good one. I even have a few guys in mind. I bet if I buy materials and offer a $100.00 I would get er done.
Thank you

No prob.
Only thing I can find is that Marineland makes some stand and canopies for that size tank. But I can't seem to locate any info on where you can buy just the canopy. Maybe you can send them an email and they can point you in the right direction if you think that style will work for ya.

I build custom aquarium furniture. Most of my work is local or within reason though. Shipping a canopy to you may not be cost effective.
Have you tried glass cages?

LOL...Those are the guys who want so much money...Hey snake, what if you did what Nova mentioned doing. Cut it all to size and just leave the putting it together kind of thing....what would you charge? Three pieces of pine and the back strip wouldn't weigh all that much. If your interested, PM me and I will give you my private e-mail since we are not allowed to do business on the site.
