I want to upgrade to MH but I'm not sure what to buy. I have a 70 gallon tank and I would like to do 2x250 and I'm not sure if I should just purchase 2 pendants or a fixture that has t-5's as well. What are some good fixtures?
Thanks

Well, I think it will all depend on your ultimate goal for what you want to keep.
For example,
What corals do you have now?
What kind of lighting do you have now?
What corals do you want to be able to get?
If you have several corals like zoos and such all ready then you might want to look into a fixture that also has T-5's or even PC for that matter. (To leave that a light on a little longer than when the MH is on). Also depends on what kind of room you have on top of the tank. Whether the tank is an open top, or has a canopy? Lots of possibilities.

Right now I have Aquactinic t-5's but with a 25 inch deep tank I would like more lighting. I'm not using a canopy and I would like to keep sps and clams anywhere in the tank. Right now I have some clams and sps in the top 3rd of the tank which are doing fine. At this point I've been checking out the Maristar fixtures because they are both halides and t-5's but there pretty pricey. I would like to buy a good quality fixture or pendant.

Yeah, to get a new fixture that has both the T-5 and MH lights is going to be pricey. If the fixture you have for the T-5's now is ok then seems like you could get away with adding a pendent to the set up. Then just place the corals that need the heavy duty light under that. I have pretty limited experience with fixtures so hopefully somebody with more will chime in. But it is good knowing what you currently have and what you are looking to do. Good luck with whichever fixture you decide on.

RS..I have The Current (Outer Orbit) combo fixtures that have 2 150MH
and 4 t5 actinics on them and have been happy with them on two reef tanks that I have had for 2 years. They also make one with 250 watt MH's but I
do not have clams or acros and felt it would be a bit overkill in my situation.
