I just came upstairs to check on a new frag I bought today and turned on the lights. My clown and damsel were sitting in the sand. I wasn't sure what was wrong but immediately unplugged everything except the lights incase it was a electricity related. They seem a little more active now. The clown keeps bumping into stuff. the yellowtail damsel is real pale.
Tank has been up for 4 months now. Recent additions are my GSP frag.
I have 10lbs of LS. 14lbs of LR.
1 Ocell Clown
1 Yellowtail Damsel
1 Tiger Pistol Shrimp
1 Nass
1 Super Tongan Nass
1 Margarita Snail
1 Nephrite Snail
1 mushroom
2 heads of pink hammer coral
1 head of frogspawn
Colony Button polyps
4 zebra hermits
Testing water now...
Amm. 0
Trites 0
Trates 10
PH 8.2
Water seems fine...any help?

Their breathing was labored at first when I found them. While doing tests they seemed to be acting normal beside the clown bumping into things. Now they have "asleep" eyes and are swimming relatively spastically. Around and around. I have a cheap flourecent light on right now and filter, PH and heater are all off. I have cleaned the filter which only carries LR and carbon. I threw the carbon out. I did plug the PH back in for a little while and they seemed fine for 5 minutes. Then I put the heater back in and on and they seemed fine till the 5min point. It has be the heater in my opinion. Anyway to test this? It is the All Glass Aquarium Heater. http://www.google.com/search?client=...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 Top One. The smallest Wattage heater. I have the AquaClear20 PH and HOB Filter. After 5minutes without anything on and the fluorescent light they have settled down.

I woke up this morning. Not thinking, I did nothing to insulate the unheated tank. It dropped 8 degrees. Everyone is fine except my clown. I turned on the light and he got very slow and wouldn't move much. He settled down in a corner and jus sat there doing nothing. I put some food in to see how he would respond and he very slowly got up and started eating and is now swimming around. Could this have been from a lack of food? I fed yesterday but for two days before didn't.

I would invest in a electrical porbe for the tank it will pull out any stray voltage in the tank.
i havent used or seen many use this heater I have jebo jager heaters and via aqua heater but I know there are better heaters out there.
as far as your tank I would get another heater on their ASAP and a probe so if there is another electrical discharge it will take care of it.

I use the AGA submersible, what wattage do you have?
I have been using the 150w and have never had a problem...
DEFENITLY get a new heater though, pronto!
A probe is also a good idea.
Good luck

I've got a blanket over the tank but my clown ate a ton and is back to his normal habits. Everything is fine. Temp at 73.

73 is not bad, if it drops below that I would start to worry..although my tank last winter got to 65 one night..heater malfunction. It wont drop any farther than your room temp..thats the good thing. Sounds like they got a jolt, I have no idea what long term effects it will have on your fish if any..maybe someone with experience in this will chime in and help you. Good luck.

something else to think about this is what made me think of it.

is that you really need to heaters in a SW tank on set on the temp that you want the tank to be at and another set a couple of degrees below that to kick on if the main heater shuts down for whatever reason.
