Congrats on the little one to come. Tell your husband he's the s**t and thank him, from me, for giving it all, over there. I don't care if you're 19 or 50...you're doing your business, keeping yourself safe and taking care of yours boys. There's nothing I respect more.
I spent 19 months in Iraq, 16 months in Afgan and 12 months in Yugoslavia (back in 99) when the Kurds were fighting the Serbs.
I have a high school friend who's married to a Green Beret and I talk to her on a daily basis. I've become her go to guy, when there's something she doesn't understand, when she doesn't get to talk to him for 3 weeks at a time. Been there, done that and I actually miss it.
And, speaking about the first picture posted. I laughed my butt off, when I saw that pic. I read an interview, with the kid in the boxers. He said his platoon came under fire, most of them were relaxing and instead of taking the time to put proper clothes on, he threw on his vest, helmet and grabbed his weapon and ran out with his boys and returned fire and supressed the attack they were taking. I thought that picture was priceless. Anything to give our boys a sense of light heartedness (sp?) and to let them know that they don't have to be proper, at all times, was good with me.
