i have some cheato in a bowl with some rubble rock in my sump. I've had it for over 2 months and if anything i see less and less cheato. I know the light i have is PC lighting but don't know how many watts but i know its enough. The flow i basically have in the sump is the overflow water coming down into the sump then i have the bowl of cheato and rubble rock right on the side of it. Why is it not growing and is it a bad thing if it doesn't grow?

well i'd post all your tests numbers on here and what kind of setup ( gallons? livestock, any additives u might use, water change cycle, lbs of live rock and sand, etc to get a better over all pic!) remember its part of the tank and as being so you have to take everything into acount!

I got a small amount from a guy about 2-3 weeks ago. I put it in one of those suction cup "soap dish" things in the rear of my DT. It has doubled if not tripled in size in 3 weeks. I am thinking of transfering it to a larger soapdish. I have it up high in my 130 with 800+ watts lighting. It is also in a medium flow area,,,hope this helps

How big is your tank and how many fish do you have? A small tank with a few fish is not going to produce much nitrates for your chaeto to grow quickly, as compared to a larger tank with a bigger bioload.
