All my fish in the tank are always fine, but this hippo tang always is gets sick, it had ick, then it had some other wierd stuff, now it has popeye which is freaking me out. I feel like this this fish is just a big hassle. IKts starting to annoy me, i have 9 fish and this is the only one that gets sick.

Well, they do get ill easier than other fish. If it is a hassle then you are better off getting rid of him. Don't buy any more like him though. It isn't just the blue hippo. The whole family is like that.

Dear hobbyist ,I've had my Hippo Tang for over a year now .When I first brought it ,it was getting ich . After quarantining it,and placing it back into the show tank ,it still caught the ich
.Finally , I tried something new ,I started placing Kent Garlic directly onto its food each time that I fed the hippo ,and within two weeks , ich was no longer visible on the hippo
. Talk about being happy ,I was overjoyed
.I kept repeating the same process ,and I haven't seen anymore ich on my hippo tang at all .
Give this remedy a try . Place some Kent Garlic onto your Hippo Tangs food for a few weeks and monitor it closely .

My blue hippo is actually the toughest fish I have ever owned. Do you quarantine your new fish? What size is the tank?
Blue hippos need a lot of space to feel comfortable and descent water quality. My blue hippo has also had pop-eye and ich in the past but it wasn't the fishes fault. I just didn't have very good water quality and I didn't qt new fish. It is actually good to have a fish like a blue hippo because they warn you ahead of time before the rest of your fish get infected. My blue hippo was the first fish to show signs of marine velvet while the others were doing fine. If I would have "listened" to my BHT, then I probably wouldn't of lost 13 out of my 15 fish.It has now been over a year and my blue hippo has not had any signs of ich or any parasite for that matter.
