Can't see the red things, but looks like some nice rock. Are you feeling welcome yet? I meant to post to the other thread when you started it, but my 3 small kids had other ideas that day, they are 6,4,and 2. As you can see we live in PA. I stay at home with them and my wife works for now, I know the feeling sometimes. Welcome to the boards and good luck with your new hobby.

yes, thank you, I am feeling quite welcomed here now.....Im cool

The little red things are best seen on the first picture, ceter bottom of the pic. they look like itty bitty trees...?? not sure I want to brush them off the LR, its on about 3 or 4 of them.
Man I didn't know 22# of rock was soooooooooooo much rock,,,I hope it all fits into my tank! I know im going to have to bust a couple of them up most of the rock is pretty good sized...and I have the 24g nano, I think there may be enough rubble rock in there also to put it in my filter area, so Im happy about that, and yes its very nice looking LR, most of them look like that one, there is quite a bit of deep purple on it,,and some green, and orange too.
Im going to do some scrubbing tomorrow.....with any luck my husband will build my stand tomorrow, I will help him if I can get him going on it.
I do have to go and buy more salt,,,and hopefully I will get to set it up and aquascape it tomorrow....maybe by nightfall......
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH......i want to set the dang thing up...im getting antsy over here! LOL
anyway check pic #1 and tell me if you see it now....
thanks,
Lori

Sorry, I just can't make them out, I am a little on the color blind side, doesn't help a lot of the time. It is most likely either sponges or some kind of macro algae. Most of the time sponges will die during the curing process, but some may survive. If it is algae, it may or may not become a nuisance in your tank, so it is kind of up to you, whether or not to clean it off. I can't say what I would do with out looking at it.

im not sure that its algea,,,its not flat down on the rock, it is about a 1/16 tall and stands up like little trees or something....idk?
I will brush my rock, and maybe leave it on one or two to see what happens...
thanks for looking though.
oh yea,,,,and I know how 3 kids can keep you busy, especially when their that young...I have 3, each approx 3 yrs apart...so I do remember it well.
have as much fun as you can with them, my youngest is now 14 and she has more mood swings than you could ever imagine.....UGH, they grow up so fast.
anyway,,,,im off to bed, gotta get up eary in the am,,,,dh has to get blood work done and were going to stop for breakfast before we take out the materials to build my FISH TANK STAND.....if he doesn't get to it tomorrow,,,i swear im going to explode!

thanks again,
Lori

well if they are red and you describe them kind of like trees I am thinking it may be aiptasia which are bad because they overrun your tank and sting corals. So definitly brush them off. Just to be sure that is what they are you can google aiptasia to see some pictures.

Its a red macro algae. Some algaes grow like bushes and plants. Not all algae grows flat on the rocks. I would keep it. I have a small bush of it in my 55 gal, it doesn't grow fast enough to be a problem.
