It will out grow that tank and bully just about anything you put in there with it .

it could be done for a short time, they grow quickly, and will get too large to turn around in an 18" wide tank. Have you seen photos of an adult panther grouper? In my opinion they get ugly when they get big, they change to a brown/grey color, big difference from the bright white juvi's that are sold.

I couldnt agree with you more . They are also huge pigs and will eat anything that will fit in their mouth ,Including your other tank mates .
