Hi - if you mean Lugol's Iodine dip - I use it to dip my corals in before adding them to my tank. The directions say 40 drops in a gallon of the tank water. I take a large gallon container and drop in 40 drops (or a 1/2 gallon takes 20 drops) and set the coral in the solution for 10 minutes. Then remove the coral - dip in regular tank water (with no iodine) to rinse it and then add to the tank. DO NOT use Lugols on any inverts or clams. If you have any questions about what corals are safe to dip in Lugols, check the internet. Hope that helps...

I dont mean to hijack the thread, but what is the purpose of dipping in Lugol's?
Its a concentrated iodine dip. It helps rid the coral of parasites, harmful predators and or algae. It also helps with any bacterial infections that it may have, it kills most anything that is on the coral. I used it on 5 of my pieces the other day, my candy cane REALLY benefited from it.

Ahh I am enlightened haha. This doesnt kill the coral? I may want to get my hands on some Lugol's for the next time I receive a coral

Not IME no... I dont do it often only as needed. It really has helped my candy cane out a lot.
