Hello Hello i'm posting this for someone to give me a reason why i Shouldn't have a flame angel..if any.. In my tank i have a Perculu clown. 1 scooter blenny. 1 18 inch banded snake eel that doesn't seem to bother anyone. and a royal Gramma. i have 1 blood shrimp a bunch of snal and some different crabs. There is 70lbs of live rock and a couple Coraline. any reason not to get a flame angel?

as long as the tank is mature it should be fine....only thing is that eel should have a bigger tank and it is a very hard species to keep alive. hope you know what ur doing.

flames are great. some have a tendancy to pick at corals and such, buy just depends on the fish. they are very pretty and hardy. but I do agree they need to be put in an established tank and only 1 dwarf angel per tank.

Many would say that a 55 is too small of a tank for one and that 70 lbs of liverock isn't enough to support its eating habits, but I suppose its up to you. I had one successfully in a 55 but had more rockwork. They all have a different temperment, but as long as you don't throw another angel in there, you will probably be fine along those lines. You probably won't ever be able to put a clam in with it in that small of a tank, again because of its feeding habits and it would be more likely to pick on it and other corals, even if it was one with a good temperment. My 0.02 worth

that tank is plenty big enough for flame angels and your not suppose to depend on the live rock to feed him either. so the only thing you would want live rock for is so that he can have places to hide and occasionally pick at. you want to feed him veggies like nori and formula 2

I would recomend getting angel formula. Its made out of sponge which is their natural diet

the angel formula is not necessary for these little guys. they are not sponge eaters in the wild. the larger angels are the sponge eaters. not that it would hurt them to have sponge but it is not necessary. and one thing i will change about what i said is it is a good idea to have live rock for constant grazing and not just for hiding and occasional picking at.
