Hello,I have been out of saltwater for years and have only been doing freshwater.Recently my last Discus passed away and I now have a empty 180 gallon aquarium.I have been thinking about for months nows having nothing but 2 Volitan Lionfish in that aquarium. I am afraid of the maintence of starting saltwater again will be over whelming. My question is how hard would it be to maintain two Lionfish with nothing else in a 180 gallon aquarium? how often would I have to do water changes?
I'm wondering if I should just stick to freshwater allthough I do love the lionfish.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am nobody to be giving advise, however, I can tell you the bigger tank makes it easier in my opinion. I made the leap from fresh to salt and I find the salt easier. Now I want to make sure and point out that it is only easier if you have the correct setup and post cycle. Hopefully you will get someone better suited to answer your question than I. Since finding this forum I'm trying real hard to get my setup closer to correct according to the masses.
I would assume folks would need to know what you have for a setup before they can advise you on how ofter to do water changes. I have been doing a 10% every week for the past 3 months on my 200 since setting it up in April. I've not had any ammonia at all ever and now plan to move the water changes to every 2 weeks @ 15%.
The ease of maintaining the filter system is what makes me happiest when coming from fresh to salt! This could be due to the change in filtration, but, this is my opinion on the subject. I would think you would have 2 very happy Lions in a big ole tank all alone!!!
Good Luck,
T
