A had 4 wrasses that were just mutilating all the crabs, snails, or any invert I put it in there so they had to go. I tried it all, the nets, fish traps, etc. But I thought to myself, why not use the same tactics I use when I fish offshore. I took one of the smallest hooks I had tied it to some 4lb clear mono. Tipped it with a piece of yellowtail snapper and lowered it in. HINT: feed them some of the same stuff first so they think are just eating another peice and wont care about the hook in it. Also if you have another fish trying to eat it, just kind of jig it around and it will create attention and your desired fish will come. Didnt hurt the fish to much either, they are doing great now in my 125 aggressive.

I did basically the same thing when I had a chalk basslet that I wanted to remove from the one tank. I did not have any real small hooks, so I held one in a needle nose pliers and heated it with a propane torch and reformed it into a miniature hook, Yea, the temper may hav ebeen removed but for a 3" basslet it was not a problem, of it straighteing it out. I used 2# mono, and some chopped shrimp for bait. All I can say is too bad when your out fishing the fish does not take the hook as quick as that basslet did. It did not hurt the fish one bit other thana hole in the lip which healed up pretty fast.

if you use a fly fishing hook number 20 (i think) without a barb (if it has one file it off its not that hard) there is very little chance of hurting the fish. They are very small hooks anyways so even the smallest of fish can be caught using this method and it does not hurt them.
