i wonder how much fuel our govt. is wasting on fighting the war in iraq? i was talking to a pilot who flew a c-5 galaxy (large cargo plane) he told me it costs 75,000 dollars in fuel to fly it 3,000 miles. how many trips did they have to make all the way over to the middle east and back to fly the tanks, men, and supplies over there? seems like that fuel could be used in our own country right now.
i wonder how much we are spending on rebuilding iraq and afghanistan after we blew it to bits TRYING to liberate them? bet the people in louisiana and mississippi could use the materials and money.

Did Hussein escape and I haven't heard and back in power? Is the Taliban in control again and the news hasn't reported it?

Bet they could use the money and aid we sent after the Tsunami hit Asia aiding those non Americans. What bothers you about our country trying to help out other countries so much?

And what is the point of such discussions anyway? Should we stay in complete isolation because there is some possibility that something might happen at some point in the future? Why release oil from the strategic reserves when something else could be just around the corner?
I could easily look at some guy with a truck and wonder how much he is wasting cruising around in that for no good reason compared to my little honda...but I don't. I wonder how much money is wasted on athletes and actors that could be used by those people in Mississippi and Louisiana and Alabama ANY DAY OF THE YEAR. Its a poor part of the country, and just about always has been.
If we had built more refineries we wouldn't have so many problems. Refineries are the bottleneck...not even oil supply.
I could also easily wonder why the government is talking price controls on oil companies when they could just as easily remove the significant taxes on every gallon of gas to start. While there are problems, there actually also is a shortage due to several refineries being off line...perhaps indefinitely.

as long as were not trying to kill the people in the other countries i have absolutly no problem with helping anyone and everyone. the tsunami was a natural disaster... we didnt create the problem. im all for helping others.
and as far as i know u.s. soldiers are still dying in iraq... is iraq liberated? maybe officially, but definately not completely. so TRYING to liberate the country is the right phrase to use when describing iraqs status.

Liberated from the rule of Sadaam they are. That is the explanation of liberated. We still have American citizens being killed in this country daily. We must not be liberated from the evil rule of Britain in the 1700's yet.
What you are doing is taking a natural disaster and the sad plight of the people involved with the distruction and using it as a political tool to say, "See we shouldn't be there.".

i suppose the slaughter of innocent people is ok as long as we have lower gas prices....
