IceCap 660

Now that I can finally see summer is coming, I've started to think about taking that next step in reef keeping which, I believe, leads to better looking and healthier tanks. I'm tossing the pre-fab lighting systems over my tanks, and trying to customize the lighting subject to the requirements in my tanks.
I have a question about the Icecap 660 ballasts, though. Is it worth the money? I believe everything I have read people say they are the best, but why? I'm a little weak in the "lighting know-how" area, so bear with me. Anyone out there who could walk me through it?

I've been using one for over 4 years and it has been great. Used it to power 4 VHO until 3 months ago when I added my MH's. It now powers 2 VHO actinics for supplimental lighting.
The one thing I remember noticing when I bought it was the claim that it powered 440 Watts of light with something like 330 Watts of electricity.
It is relatively cool also with the heat sink.
I can't say it is better than any other ballast but it has been very reliable.
