Ok, this morning when I went to feed the fish I noticed some white spots on my three stripe B/W damsel (quite a few spots). I go to set up the QT when I get home from work this afternoon and all the spots are gone except one small spot on the top dorsal fin. At first I thought it looked like ich, but now I thing it may be Lymphocyctis. It looks more like a growth than a spot. I have checked all of my water parameters and they are all good. Will Ich or Lymphocyctis come and go that quickly, within a few hours. This guy is the only one with spots. He was acting eratic and bumping into the rock yesterday, but today seems fine. Any ideas? I tried to get a pic of the spot, but he's a swimmer, never staying still.

At the top of the disease forum Beth has pictures of various diseases. Take a look at the pics of ich and of lymph. It could be both. Can you post a pic of your fish?

I tried to get a pic of the fish but it won't sit still enough to zoom in on the spot. It had maybe 8 spots on it this morning and now they are all gone except the one on the fin. The spots this morning looked like Ich, but the one on the tail now looks like Lymphocyctis. I may go ahead and set up a QT anyway and treat using hyposalinity. I can't get to it till tomorrow afternoon though. Will they be ok till then? Should I treat all fish or just the one that has the problem?

What are your water parameters? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, ph, salinity? If it is ich then your best bet is to treat all of the fish. If you are going to take your fish out and treat them in a qt make sure the qt is big enough to house them for 6 weeks. If you treat them in the qt and then return them to your display too soon there will still be ich in your display. They will host your fish and start reproducing again. Ich sometimes comes and goes on a fish. The ich has to attatch to a host to survive, but if the fish is healthy they will fight the ich off. Lymph is usually cured by good water quality and proper nutrition. The use of vitamines and garlic will also help for either problem. They will be fine untill tommorow.
