Hi & welcome to the boards,
You're going to hear from people more experienced than I that you should not be feeding fresh water fish to salt water animals.

You don't need to feed it live fish anyways.
You could feed it something like silversides or kill which are frozen foods.
If it was ick it would pretty much be over the whole body and fins unless its just starting or something.

im tryin to get a pic but is tough.. tiny bright white dots, almost pretty, not like the spots on the tanks sides and rocks. but the body is darker than it has been since ive gotten it. Ive never had one so i dont know if they darken as they age. It is only about 4in. long right now. As for the live food I know i dont have to feed it but I love watchin it hunt.

how long have you had the fish?
as for the live food, it's not that you don't have to feed live. it's bad for the lion's health. fatty liver degeneration among other things will eventually kill the fish with this diet.

The color change can be a number of things. Stress can bring it about as can illness or the fish simply not feling well. If you want to keep this fish for a long time and keep it healthy, wean it off live foods ASAP. Fresh water feeders are not healthy and can cause damage to internal organs if used for long periods of time. THey also lack the necessary nutrients that salt water predators need. Additionally, they can introduce pathogens into your system that can make the fish sick.
Try using a feeding stick, and wiggle some frozen foods in front of the lion. They often take this as live prey and will go for it. Small pieces of shrimp, scallop, whitefish, krill, silversides, talapia, etc work well. Be persistant. If you give in, the lion will never accept prepared foods. It's fine to withold food for a few days as well to get the lion really hungry. Forego your desire to see the fish hunt, in favor of keeping it alive.

oh i didnt know that..Ive had it for about 1 month and have only fed it 5-6 live fish in that time so ill stop. so that may be the darkening aspect? will it heal if i stop the live food or is the damage done?

than, it will eat frozen silversides easily so ill stick with those..b.t.w the other fish havnt shown any effects of the specks or lazyness that the lionfish has ..i hope i caught it soon enough, i really like this fish.
