okay, i was doing my daily inspection of my tank and surprise, my yellow tang has ich. I have a 20 gallon QT tank setup below the display. I want to try hypo salinity on it, but the problem is, I ordered a pair of clowns and they will be here on thursday. I dont know how I can treat the tang and QT the clowns at the same time. Anyway wouldnt the display tank need to be empty for a month before the ich is gone? I dont have time to cycle another tank in time for the clowns. I'm also worried about the fire fish i have in there.
tank stats:
90 gallon
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-5
SG-1.022
temp-81
running for 8 weeks
90 lbs live rock
2 inches live sand
prizm protein skimmer
Fluval 304 w/ uv sterilizer
Suggestions on this situation please.
thanks

This is not an ideal situation. Hyposalinity is the preferred treatment for ich. Since this is not particularly stressful to fish, I would probably add the clowns to the treatment tank.
If the fish do not look extremely sick, I would probably wait to start hyposalinity until the clowns get here.
You are correct that your display tank needs to be fishless for one month before the ich will be definitely eliminated.
