ICH question

I resently added copper sulfate to my 55 Gal tank to treat ich. The tank holds a puffer a trigger and a damsel. I slowly (over about 4 hours) increased the copper to about 2.5PPM, I also removed the carbon form the filters(at the LFS's recomendation). My question is how long until the fish should be ich-free and when should i put the carbon(new of coruse)back into the filters.

Steel,
I agree with anthem, I'm not familiar with that brand of copper, however 2.5ppm would mean death! I think you do mean .25ppm. You may have problems keeping the prophylactic level with the rockwork in your tank (you'll see varying levels). You need to maintain at least .15ppm for 3-4 weeks before you can be fairly sure the parasite has completed it's life cycle. You may also want to feed your fish a medicated flake food with Metronidazole. Watch your water chemistry, you may have ammonia spikes, because sometimes copper can set back your biological. At the end of 4 weeks, do a 50% water change with good clean seawater and put your carbon back in.
Good Luck,
wolfie
