Ich questions

Will raising the temperature and water changes help with dealing with ich in my display tank? Only one fish has it. I raised the temperature to 84 and he seems better today. Maybe the cleaner shrimp helped last night. Looking to do water change today. Am I on the right track?

I have a little hippo tang that has several dots on him. He still is acting healthy and eating. I have noticed a little on my flame angel. I recently ordered these fish from saltwaterfish and put them in my 3 month old tank on Wed. I didn't quarantine. I have 30 pounds of lr with several hermits and snails, percula, yellow tail, goby, chromis and pseudochromis. I know the hippo shouldn't be in there but I realized that after I placed the order. Not sure what to do with him now because I will have a hard time catching him. What is hyposalinity?

Hyposalinity is a treatment for external parasites in which the specific gravity of your tank is lowered from normal to 1.009 and is maintained there for 3 weeks after the spots are gone. It is extremely effective and is very safe if you do it in a cycled tank. Besides being toxic to parasites like ich, hyposalinity can kill invertebrates, corals and the beneficial lifeforms in your live rock.

Thanks for the info. Can the fish successfully fight off ich on their own? It looks a lot better today. Trying to be optimistic. Starting a QT/hospital tank right now.

Rarely. Some fish will achieve a limited immunity but unfortunately ich will still be in your tank infecting any new fish.
All white spots are not ich. Make sure you have ich before you do any treatment. Individual spots of ich should last ~5-7 days before the trophonts fall off to be replaced during the next lifecycle of the parasite. Sometimes the spots will go away and then come back worse after the bug has had a chance to replicate.
