I have a hippo tang and when I first got him he had ICH real bad, so I did hypo and left him in there for 2 months at 1.009, temp 76. he was rid of ICH as far as I could see in about 2weeks but I left him in there for the full 2 months. After that he went back in the tank and in about 2weeks he had ICH again, but this time it was less then before, I left him be and in a few days it was gone. it has now been 4 months and no ICH has been seen, so what hapend? if a fish has ICH will it go away like that, did I not kill it the first time? if the fish still had it would I not still be seeing it, I mean there has not been a speck on him at all. whats up?

could be that the fish still had a minute amount of ich on him. Then when out of hypo it blossomed again. Just my .02

no there were no fish in the tank with him, the tank just had coral in it for 2 months when he was in the hypo. I mean its gone now so story over but I just thought that if even one speck of ICH was seen that theres no getting rid of it but hypo? It could have been somthing else but I have had 14 fish die from ICH so I think I know thats what it was. I wish I would have known what I know now back then,,, I'd still have all 14 of them. the tang is doing great to this day,, and as I wright this there are 3 fish in the QT tank and have been for 2weeks, and thats where they will stay for 2 more weeks, so far no ICH has shown it face.

keep you temperature at about 80 or 82 degrees. this will give any parasites a greater chance of not surviving and you fish and corals should be fine, but raise the temperature gradually. maybe a degree or 2 once a day till you reach 80 or 82.

thanks guys, I have my reef tank set at about 80, 81, so good to go there, and I have been doing this for about a year or so. I have had a lot of ich on all kinds of fish, and like I said this tang is the only one that has come out of it and lived. thanks
