I have A 20gal mini reef set up been established for 4 months water conditions are temp 77-78 specific gravity 1.023 PH 8.2 when I had my water checked at the store they said all zeros on nitrates and amonia and all other stressers basicly the water was fine. Anyway I had a breakout of ich that came from a maroon clown who suddenly developed a white lump on his side. He stopped eating and started digging holes in the sand bed by the live rock like he was nesting or something I didn"t nknow about garlic at the time to treat him so he died about 4 days later. Then I lost two other tank mates a cuban hog and a royal gramma in about two days wow I am very new to this hobby and lost alll my fish in 4 months I was devistated. Any way I have 4 different corals and a bubble tip anename and about 18 lb. of live rock live sand 2in.deep I have a proteen skimmer and a nice heater that holds temp perfect power head good water conditions do 20% water change every month and still cant get rid of the ich I have a little six lined wrass who has lived through every thing and is thriveing I also have a cleaner shrimp who has been in for about three weeks he is doing well. I have tried to introduce a pair of clowns with out succesthey got ich and died with in four days I also tried to introduce a fridmadi who died in two days I am scared to add any more fish to my tank for fear of them dying from ich what should I do?All I want to do is have a pair of black and white clowns or true perculas live and thrive in my tank any suggestions on how to do this would be wonderful help!!!!!!!!!!!

I would let the tank go fisheless for 30 days. Ich needs a host (fish) to live. Without a fish it will die off on it's own. I know that it sounds like a long time, but this has worked for me. Read more about QTs and ich in Beth's sticky at the top of the disease pg.
