If I take my fish that has ick can I freshwater dip it. Will it remove some of the ick. Will I kill my fish off. Help me. Also need info on a hyposalinity tank. Or other methods like copper or garlic, I don't understand how they work.

once again casey i am no expert but a fw dip can work but you have to get the ph the same as your tank and watch the fish very closely for signs of stress. i think it will take about 10 to 15 min to get the parasite to drop off the fish and then you cant pour that water into the tank. also from what i read in your other post you probably have a tank that is riddled with ich so if you put him back hell just get it agin. i think hypo would work better and then if you can keep him out for i think its about 4 weeks your ich in the main tank will die, because there will be no fish host in tank. i cant help you with hypo because ive never done it. good luck

IMO Fw dips don't work because they are very stressfual on the fish and the tank already has the ich parasite so the fish would just get reinfected.
Hyposalinity:
You must put all the fish in the hospital tank then slowly over a 48 hour period you lower the salinity by doing small water changes until it is at 1.009. It must stay at that level for at least 3 weeks for the ich to die. Keep an eye your Ph level because it will fluctuate in lower salinity. After three weeks if there appears to be no more ich you can slowly raise the salinity the same way you lowered it. Then keep the fish in the hospital tank for another two weeks to be sure the ich is gone in the main tank and to be sure that the ich has completely died off the fish. IMO hypo is the safest and most effective method of treament for the fish, hope this helped you.
