Ick falling off the fish all at once?

Hello -
Is this possible? The fish had over a dozen spots on his body last night, 24 hours later he doesn't have a single one.
Seems weird all the Ick would abandoned ship all at once and nothing would reattach.
Can a fish stress out, get ick but then immediately fight the ick off?

Ich has a 3 stage life cycle. Only one of these stages is the parasite visible on the fish. The other stages, the parasite is either lying on your tank substrate, or, swiming in the water.
Your fish will still be subjected to this parasite unless you treat it.
