Is it just me or is there a lot of posts about ick? Is ick something that is seasonal? Is it something that is in the ocean or is this something that is only in closed aquaria? Do fish get ick in the wild? Where does it come from? Just thinking...

Ich is the highest source of problems for fish in the marine hobby. It is not seasonal, however, hobbyists acquiring new fish may be seasonal, and, in if, you may see less incidence of ich then, say, in the winter months when fish for hobbyists are less plentiful then during spring/summer.

Yes ick is in the ocean. But do to the size of the ocean a fish would prob. never see the offspring of there parsite. Due to the size of our tanks our fish has no where to hide from the offspring. A few ick will not kill fish, but the 100's that effect the tank fish plus the billions of offspring that block the gills from processing oxygen will.

This time of the year, more people impulse buy. (I used to own a small store) It goes along with the spring cleaning, many people are inspired to buy more fish at this time of year. It has little to do with the fish themselves and EVERYTHING to do with people being in a hurry and not quarantining their fish. If you have QT questions. please don't hesitate to ask.
