Hi Terry and Beth,
Terry posted a link in about.com forum to a 2 part article on ick. When I click on that link I end up on the home page of this site. I have not been able to see and read the article.
Can you give me a key word or date of posting with which to find both parts of the article on this forum?
Thanks,
Eric

The link Terry posted for part I of the two part article was; https://www.saltwaterfish.com/cgi-bin...&f=14&t=000001
Let me know if I can still access it.
If I may, I have a question concerning the life cycle of C. irritans and how it's treatment in hyposalinity affects it;
- When an infected fish is placed in a QT tank, I have noticed that the white spots disappear within a few days. What actually happens?
Thanks,
Eric

Hey thanks,
So the hyposaline conditions in effect prevent the tomites from hatching, meaning that the free swimming stage never occurs.
Curiously, how long does the tomont encapsulated stage last?

Hmmm........so does the hyposaline environment prevent the tomont from hatching (and multiplying) into theronts? Furthermore, if the tomonts cannot hatch into the theronts within the 4 - 8 days, does it mean that they (tomonts) die thus effectively breaking the cycle or do they simply stay at the bottom of the tank for 3 - 4 weeks waiting for more favorable conditions before dying off?
