What exactly is ick? I mean what does it look like? I have a Domino Damsel and it has a white spot on its side and it seems to be eating away at it. If this isn't Ick what could it be and what should I do?!?!?!?

What is the best way to reach the desired Hyposalinity? I have read many of the posts about it but I am new to this hobby and don't know much, but I am learning and reading all about it. Thanks for the help!

Taking out salt water and adding fresh water (no salt) will lower the salinity. Then adding water with extra salt will raise it back up.

A single white spot on your fish that looks like it is eating away at the fish, is not ick. Ick are servearal salty appearing dots on fish body and fins.
What you have may be a single parasite.

If it is not Ick then what should I do to get rid of it. It doesn't seem to be spreading to the other fish and there is no sign of fatigue in the infected fish. Could it be related to red algae. I have had a lot of red algae growing in the tank. The guy at the fish store I bought the tank from said that the algae was normal and should go away but it hasnt'. Thanks for the advice
