ick transfer

can transfering rock and sand from one tank to another trasmit ick if it were present in the tank? might be a dumb question but yah just wondering. i know ick needs a host (fish) but also know it can travel through the water.

BUMP....I believe everybody should realize this. I thought ...along with lots of others...It can only get into the tank VIA fish..... I have learned my lesson.

It can come in on anything, commonly hard surfaces, but through helping people on here we have learned that it can realy come in on anything. A qt is essential to a healthy tank. Fish need to be qt'd for 3 weeks minimum, 4 weeks is better.The fish need to be CLOSELY observed durring this time. Inverts, corals, rocks, all need 3 weeks for any ich laying on the surface to reproduce then die from lack of host. Ich cannot host inverts, rocks, corals, etc, but it can be introduced to the tank via them.
