Hmm! A Cowfish sick then half the tank dead I think you might worry about what the Cowfish might have released as far as its toxic poison. If you have been doing water changes it is what probably has kept some of the fish alive. I would get the cow out but I don't know if you can solve this now. Not trying to scare you to death but I think this has a good chance of being what has happened- lets see what others say tonight then I would act asap.

TERRY B.THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY.YES I HAVE A FISH ONLY TANK.THE WIERD PART ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IS I HAVENT PUT ANEW FISH IN THE TANK IN OVER A MONTH.THE COWFISH STARTED OUT BY STAYING IN ONE CORNER AND DID NOT EAT.WHEN HE DOESNT EAT I KNEW THEN I HAD A PROBLEM.THEN,AFTER ONE DAY SPECS STARTED SHOWING SHOWING ON ITS BODY.THE NEXT MORNING MY PURPLE TANG,FLAME ANGEL AND BICOLOR ANGEL WERE DEAD.THAT AFTERNOON THE QUEEN ANGEL,WHICH IS MY LARGEST FISH[ABOUT 5 INCHE.ACROSS]WAS ALSO DEAD.SO FAR THE 2 SISSOR TAIL GOBBIES,THE MIDNIGHT ANGEL,AND THE YELLOW TANG ARE LEFT.ONE OF MY PROBLEMS IS I CANT CATCH THE FISH THAT SHOW SIGNS OF THE DIEASE WITHOUT MOVING MOST OF THE ROCKS AND CORAL OUT.OR DISRUPING THE TANK COMPLETELY.I AM GOING TO TAKE YOUR SUGGESTION,THANKS AGAIN,I WILL BE IN TOUCH,DON.

Don; Was not trying to worry you with my post but it is what came to my mind real fast. In the past I lost 2 tanks one due to a cowfish and one due to a pair of boxfish (same difference almost) and in both cases the other fish showed spots then died but the cow and the box were the first to not act right before the problem got beyond my control. If the other fish (still ok) have been in tank quite a while with the cow they would have become somewhat immune to some of the toxin depending on how much the Cow might have let go. Anyway let me know what you hear from Mark and what you end up deciding to do.

TERRY B.,I LOST 7 OF 15 OF MY FISH.THE ONLY FISH THAT WERE SCRATCHING DIED.AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH IT MAY HAVE BEEN VELET RATHER THAN ICK THAT CAUSED THE DEATHS.THE COW FISH WAS FIRST TO DEVELOPE THE SPOTS AND THE BEHAVIOR CHANGE,HOWEVER THE FISH THAT DIED DID NOT SHOW ANY SPOTSBUT THEY DID SCRATCH.THE REALLY STRANGE PART IS THAT MY QUEEN ANGEL SEEMED IN PERFECT HEALTH AND DIED WHILE I WAS AT WORK.THE FISH THAT ARE LEFT NSEEM TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE.THEY ARE ACTING NORMAL AND EATING WELL.SINCE I HAVE A FISH ONLY TANK I USED COPPERSAFE.I DID NOT WANT TO BUT I NEEDED TO TAKE EXTREME MEASURES.IM DUE FOR A WATER CHANGE THIS WEEKEND.DUE YOU THINK I SHOULD POSTPONE OR CHANGE.MARC WEISS IS ON VACA,STILL WAITING ON HIS REPLY.THANKS FOR YOU IMPUT AND I BE IN TOUCH,TKS AGAIN,DON.null

I would do the water change making sure you dose the new water with the proper amount of copper since you have already started with it. I like Terry am a believer in water changes (do all my tanks weekly even tho it is a chore). Just in case the cowfish is involved at all diluting the water a bit can't hurt till you get closer to the real problems answer.
