How di I get rid of this stuff? I have been treating my tank with Quick cure from Aquarium Products, and my clown is still sick. I have a wet/dry system on a 58 gal reef setup. Animals are 1 coral banded shrimp a few crabs blue and red legged some turbo snails and some other kinda snails quite smaller though. I have two cucumbers 1 green brittle star, 1 percula clown, yellow tang, domino damsel and yellow tail blue damsel and some kinda worm that only seems to come out at night out of the rocks. Probably around 50-60 lbs of live rock that is just starting to really look good. I don't want to kill my inverts but how do I safely rid my self of this ICK problem. The fish actually started looking better but theclown got sick yesterday and doesn't look good. I have already lost a tomato clown and don't want to lose any more please advise me in a good direction.

unless you pull all your fish out of the tank and put treat them in a hospital tank you will have a hard time getting rid of it. From doing a search on this board some people have luck with reef safe ick medications others (mostly) don't. I am in the process of eradicating my second episode of ich and I don't have a hospital tank. I suggest soaking their food in fresh garlic juice for appx. an hour before you feed. I have been doing so for a week now and have no more visible signs of ick. Of course that does not mean it is wipe out but my fish don't seemed bothered anymore either. Go to the grocery store and buy a garlic clove. Crush the garlic up and place it in a small container with either tank or RO/DI water. The garlic will saturate the water in a day or so. Then use a little of the water to soak your food. I keep the extra in the frig and soak all the food in it prior to feeding. Cheap home remedy, hope it works for you. Good Luck.

Sorry about the second post but you also could buy some cleaner shrimp (like skunk shrimp). They eat parasites such as ick. I just recently bought two for my 55g.

Cleaner shrimp and garlic are a good preventitive of ich but it will not cure ich. If you have a hospital tank I suggest you put all your fish in there and treat them with hyposalinity, the process of lowering the salinity level to kill the ich but you cannot do hypo in the main tank as it will kill the live rock. Look on this forum and find a post that says hyposalinity to learn how to do it as I am not quite sure of the proceedure.

Thanks for the advice I don't have a hospital tank but am soon going to get one!!!! One other question if I treat my fish for ick using the hospital tank how does that rid ick out of my tank and my invert. When I put my fish in there wont they just get it again?

Your inverts cannot carry ich (thank goodness). But you have to keep your fish out of your main tank for 4-6 weeks for the ich to die off. Ich can't live without a host and since it can't live off the inverts then it just slowly dies off.
