So I went to a pet shop where they had what looks like a grouper but he is bright yellow and black they had no clue what he was so I bought him cuz they had him in a tiny gallon tank and I had no fish in my 190 gallon tank he definately eats small feeder fish he is about three inches long at this point in time. I have no pic of him cuz he keeps hiding when I try taking a pic just trying to figure out what he is any ideas on a juvenile black and bright yellow grouper or grouper like fish?

You bought a fish that you have no idea what is or how big it will get! You are a brave person. Yes with out pictures no chance of ID'ing.

You'd do well to get the fish off of live feeders too, unless you're feeding it damsels or ghost shrimp...even then, you should wean the fish onto dead foods such as SW fish flesh (salmon, tuna, snapper, etc), table shrimp (uncooked), squid, scallops, etc. Stay away from krill...freeze-dried or frozen, as these aren't good for the fish either (they have been anecdotally linked to lockjaw in preds).

Didn't know that about krill, back in the day that is what I got my first dwarf lion to eat, weening it off of Rosie's. Have you heard anything bad about plankton?
