im trying to figure out exactly what you are talking about... the Qtip looking sponges,,, or the weird thing on the glass or the dead big thing by the powerhead?

haha, yes the Qtip looking sponges. There isn't anything dead by the powerhead, that is just the powerhead. The growth on the glass in just algae right? or the Coraline algae.

I think he means the prefilter sponge, that sorta looks like a beehive all covered

The sponges are nothing to worry about they go away after some timie or at the least dwindle in numbers. They are just sucking up extra nutrients in you tank and a sign that it is healthy.
