they are nice looking but im curious what their temperment is
they tore 4 scarlets to shredds and are continuing to kill each other off
i cant add more because they are getting killed and my tank really needs a clean up crew!
plus i had a stressed fish and the hermits caught him and ate him... not very nice

Thanks so much for that threat it helped a lot
on that thread someone mentioned that the enlarged from left claw was a calcinus specific trait so i researched all the Calcinus and found the Calcinus laevimanus which is also known as the left handed and zebra hermit
its funny some of the pictures is a perfect match and others you can see why id doubt the identification

I have no idea what the real name is, but my LFS always called them brown legged hermits. Anyway, the point is that I bought a lot of blue legs from my LFS one time and all of the sudden I was finding dead Blue leg bodies all over the place. I went back to talk to the LFS and they told me to check and see if I had one of those hermits (brown leg). I did. I removed the hermit and no deaths have occured since. They are very aggresive and will make quick work of other more peaceful hermits.
