So my new 6 sided tank is 21 inches tall, 24" by 24" wide. its a 50 gallon i think. Id like to do live rock with some mushrooms, zoas. I cant find a 24'' t5 fixture that has over 96 watts, is 96 watts all i need or do i need more? Im also thinking about the ecoxotic par 38 LED bulb, its 21 watts. Do you guys have any lighting suggestions for my tank?

I don't see why a 24" T5HO fixture of 96 watts wouldn't be enough light? IMO, far better then one PAR 38 bulb. I'm running a 24" 96w T5HO on my 20g tank I plan for SPS corals... With as tall as your tank is, your fine with musrooms, zoanthids, xenia and other low to medium light corals...
If you can, buy a fixture that has individual reflectors. The individual reflectors put more light into the tank. I bought my 24" Nova Extreme with individual reflectors fixture for around $175 off of a website.
