nothing has been added to his tank in months, but these things showed up a few weeks after cutting a shroom off it's stump, and they've expanded to other shrooms...

Yeah, I'd say "white" flatworms, which are more of a clear color and actually take on the color of the coral they're covering. I've got some on a frogspawn and some others on an orange ricordia yuma, and they both took on the coloration of the coral.

we figured they were flatworms, but where could they ahve come from? always in there? maybe start attacking the mushroom stump because he cut it, and spread to other shrooms because they just spread from eating the stump?
flatworm exit, or FW dip on shrooms ok?

They could have been on the shrooms the whole time without notice, depending on the type, though they like the light so they weren't likely hiding too far out of sight. But yeah, the cutting could have brought them out in force, I've seen them spread from fragging something.
Personally, I've done fw dips on shrooms without problems but then I'm paranoid about using chemicals in my tank, hence why there are still flatworms in my tank.

Thanks for posting this Renogaw, and thanks to everyone for the help. Looks like a FW dip is in order... I'll let you know how it goes.

One of my shrooms, thankfully set away from the others by coincidence, has a lot of these. They like the light as well, Im thinking they saw the baby mushroom and jumped at the opportunity for them to thrive. FW exit would annhiliate them hah

If given a choice between flatworm exit and freshwater, I think I would hafta go with FE. I know it to be safe while a freshwater is only "tolerated for a few minutes"

I would do the freshwater dip. Some corals really do not like Flat worm exit. Well it's actually the flatworm juices. Also flat worm exit has never cleared my tank of flat worms. I reduced the nutrient load and bam the flat worms I was battling for a few months slowly started to disappear.
