Yeah, it's a goniopora, and unfortunately it doesn't look like it's doing very well. That's not something they should have shipped to you.

How long ago did you get it? It's showing a lot of exposed skeleton, which is never good, and gonioporas are not particularly hardy corals. That color is also suspicious, and makes me think it's dyed.

can one actually dye a coral and have it still survive? do you think this colt may be dyed as well? will they "pollute" my water? do i need to take them out?

I'm not saying that they are for sure dyed, but the color is both of those corals is suspicious. I've never dealt with dyed corals, so I'm not sure what to tell you in terms of survival or what they will do to your tank. Sometimes, the dye just fades and the coral returns to it's normal color. If the corals start to die or melt away, I would take them out.

Yeah, it unfortunately does happen. If you see a really brightly colored coral, particularly one that isn't often seen in that color, you should be suspicious. Price is can also be an indication. Normally, corals with rare color morphs are very expensive and are marketed as such, but if you're getting it as the $15 mystery coral, that may not be a good sign.

i think its just plane wrong and cruel to dye these corals just for profit knowing most will die. they should at least make it know to the customers what they are actually purchasing. just my opinion.

+1. You take a risk with buying mysteries. Information about what your shipped and the care it requires would be ideal. Receiving a dyed coral from a reputable sorce
