ID please (very wierd)

i saw this thing in my tank last night. its like a conch but it just sits there and its shell is furry.

Best I can do is reference "Reef Creatures Identification" by Paul Humann and, by the ref. photo, you've got yourself an Atlantic Hairy Triton Snail (Cymatium pileare).

My identification of your 'whatever' was not based so much on it's hairy shell but it's spotted body demonstrated in the photo. If that is in fact what you have, the reference book I have does not specify diet of the snail but I did find a reference on an internet search regarding this particular species saying that "Cymatium pileare is a voracious feeder of ostreid bivalves, and are a major pest in oyster farms (Littlewood 1989)."
I sincerely hope that's not what you have as it will eat all your clams and then probably starve to death.
I suggest you research this possibility yourself and act accordingly.
