Looks like Stylophora or Cat's paw. like said high light, med to high flow and good water quality is a must.

A very nice looking piece but just a suggestion.
Please do not take this as insult- this particular coral is very sensitive to water conditions, the fact you didnt know it at first site at 100 yards is not a crazy but if you are into stonies then that would be very odd as this particular coral is very easily identified and known for its distinct shape and color combo.
Many people are getting into the reef hobby and this particular coral is very attractive but it quickly looses its tips and can brown out very quickly under conditions anything but premium.
I would suggest to return it to the LFS you purchased it from and get something better suited to the learning curve. It is not a cheap coral so the money may be better spent on a few LPS to begin with before trying something as difficult as this particular species.
Like I said. I am honestly not trying to urinate on your parade because the coral is beautiful. Just that this is several years worth of growth and would be dead in a week if you are not ready to provide for its specialized needs.
I strongly caution jumping into stonies with this particular species without some experience under your belt first.
Good luck with either way you decide and sorry if what I said is a downer.
And BEAUTIFUL specimen!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I have had the tank up for 7 months now and keep a very close watch on everything (weekly checks on Alk, Cal, Ph, Trites, Trate, Iodine, Mag, Stront.). It will also be under a 250 watt MH 14k with a Kalk reactor. I feed cyclo and dt's alternating almost daily. Respect your comments and appreciate the help u give to everyone. I know I should have researched it before I bought it, but for $35 I couldn't pass it by. Also, let me know if you have any other recommendations. One other thing, you have the nicest tank that side of the Mississippi.
From one Reefer/Racer to another. Keep the shiny side up. It’s all part of the challenge.

Should do fine for you, it may not though like said. Little to no PO4 or Nitrate. Very nice piece, esp for what you spent, probably 50 or 60 here. The only suggestion I'd have at this point, is maybe don't feed everyday, not saying it will, but it could get out of hand and lead to water quality issues.
I hope it grows for you.

I have a weird setup. I have a 20 gallon main tank with a 100 gallon fuge in my basement. I have over a 100 lbs of live rock in the 2 tanks. This setup lets me feed allot to the small tank and what doesn't get eaten goes to fuge for processing. It has been working so far.

Rock on. Then you need to upgrade to a bigger tank, like a 30. LOL
Do what works best for you. Sounds like you got things under control.

I am planning on going big eventually, that is why I have the big tank in the basement. I am trying to start out small with a lot of frags and grow them to fit in a larger tank. I also don't have the room right now for a bigger tank. I'm finishing an addition to our house right now, so I will have room in a year or so.

That is cool, you didn't have to go through all that, I was just kidding. I know how expensive stuff is. I hope your new house build goes smoothly for you. Make sure you have enough room for a fish room in the future. Another joke, or not. I know I could use more room(new addition someday) in my little area. Have fun

Great price on the piece. Sounds like you are equipped. I never underestimate someone that is willing to learn as they go. Thank you for takin my comment in stride.
I am no authority on anything, just naturally full of opinions. LOL!!! (theres a first eh!)
It has no sweeper tenticles but it can be agressive to neighbors if too close. They are actually easier when they are larger like yours once they make it through the acclimation proccess. Just try to keep water to spec and lighting in clean spectrum. Old Bulbs and poorly planned flow are #1 killer to SPS while everyone is testing for trates and typical issues scratching thier heads thinking everything is "fine"
Your pics show it open and happy so keep on trucking and post a pic of the full tank.
As for water specs, you are on the right track so just keep us posted.
Thank you for the kind words but I dont think I have posted a pic of my mini in quite some time.
The new tank has been sitting staring at me empty for several months now and its burning a hole in me not to fill it. I really am thinking of adding the engine block to the new tank.
Sheesh, I have about 10 threads to catch up on with pics.

The coral looks bigger then it is. It is smaller then a peach, but has great shape. I hope it does well. This hobby is a challenge.
